Traditional Finishes*

This course is designed to round out your portfolio with several finishes often requested by our students. These beautiful faux finishes are a classic addition to any artist's education. Classic uses of these finishes are explored in a PowerPoint presentation.

Curriculum will include various techniques in tortoise shell, lapis lazuli, malachite, ivory, bamboo, rice and eggshell lacquer to name a few. Contemporary methods and materials enable students to apply these finishes more easily than using traditional techniques.

These finishes can be the crowning touch to both furniture and wall installations.
